Finally, after years of serious thinking i've gathered up all the strength to start this art blog. Honestly, the main reason why I've never gone my way to put up an art blog is because of insecurities. And oh my, it took me a long time... Anyway, I've enjoyed drawing and painting way back in pre-school. My first achievement in the field was in a Coloring Contest way back in kindergarten. We were asked to color Mona Lisa. I did fairly well because I made a multi-colored Mona Lisa which won me the trophy. ehhehe

Since then, I started to explore drawing on my own. Doodling was my world...it still is Birthday gifts were never really a surpirse because I often asked my parents to buy art materials for my birthday... I took formal lessons in painting when I was in high school. I took a 2 year Visual Arts course with Ms.Barayuga, who "immersed" (this was the term she often used) us in the arts. She would play classical music as we painted, and gave us an hour to paint and complete our "masterpiece." I am proud to say, I am one of the Barayuga kids... Learned alot of techniques from my mentor and I am still using my skills up to now.

In college, I joined the Malate Literary Folio (the official literary folio of DLSU) I was part of the Art Section and well... I was invited to several nude painting sessions...however, I was not ready and often declined to join. Hhehe I guess my hands would just sweat and I'll end up staring blankly..hahaha... The sad truth is, I never got published. My art director chose several of my works to be published but I never met the residency qualification. (as we were supposed to complete a 5 hour stay in the Org Room per week) Computer Science was a demanding course... my groupmates needed me physically to be infront of the computer with them. haha..loser.

Influences... One of the great artists I met was Ben Cabrera, more popularly known as Ben Cab. This was in a trip to Baguio where he showed us a couple of his works. I think Baguio is really a good place to live in if you were an artist, if i can remember i think Ben Cab's house was on a hill...a quite secluded area. Another person I really look up to is Vincent Van Gogh. Though, I wouldn't want to be like him...hehehe. Vincent Van Gogh was a dutch painter, his art works were known only after his death..thus the song...Starry Starry Night . He was mentally ill, was put in an asylum and in the latter part of his life cut off a part of his left ear. My favorite works by Van Gogh is Starry Night, Cafe Terrace at Night and Starry Night over the Rhone.

Currently, I am still painting and drawing... However, most of them are done during my free time... If i have... My best works are posted here...(only those I was able to keep...most of them were snatched..by good friends who wouldn't take no for an answer ) I've also painted parts of my room... hahah
